Automation Controls Technician

Elopak has recently built a new, state-of-the-art facility in Little Rock. We are looking for a qualified Automation Controls Technician to provide upkeep and repair for all production and facility equipment within the plant to ensure or improve production efficiency. This position will require flexibility both with performing investigative/troubleshooting tasks on PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems primarily on the manufacturing floor as well as performing electrical distribution and mechanical system maintenance as required based on personnel availability and operational need.  #EUS1

$35-$45/hour

Automation Controls Technician Qualifications/Skills:

Must Have:

  • 5-10 years overall work experience in production manufacturing environment with a minimum of 4 -6 years experience in Automation Controls
  • Siemens experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and modify relay logic
  • Troubleshooting & setting parameters on VFD's
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E.
  • 480v 3 phase troubleshooting experience
  • Low Voltage control wiring and troubleshooting (Required)
  • Good math, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering is ideal, but not required if experienced in industrial automation
  • Allen Bradley experience required
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience ideal
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams

These skills are the necessary requirements:

  • Good mechanical knowledge (replacement of bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, alignments, geometric tolerancing, etc.)
  • Good electrical knowledge (replacement of variable frequency AC and DC motors, servo motors, instrumentation, drives and electrical components, drawing reading, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of automation (troubleshooting automated systems, understanding of Allen Bradley, Omron and Siemens PLC programs, etc.)
  • Experience with industrial communication networks: Profibus, profinet, sercos, Ethernet;
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, collaborate with multiple stakeholders and meet performance objectives;
  • Have good priority management, responsibility and initiative
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team towards a common goal.
  • Honesty, motivation, discipline, dynamism and punctuality
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Experience with the Internal Maintenance Management System (an asset);

Must be able to read and understand electrical instruments

 

Under the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager, you must support and optimize daily production through effective preventive maintenance and respond to unplanned calls in order to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Support production daily, according to priorities, through the continuous operation of equipment, the search for and repair of breakdowns, as well as the training of operators in adjustment or change
  • Perform various tasks related to preventive maintenance of equipment (cleaning, inspection, lubrication, repair, etc.)
  • Repair various systems and their various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic components;
  • Make the necessary corrections for optimal operation of the equipment;
  • Diagnose the cause of breakdowns and repair equipment using drawings and technical diagrams;
  • Thoroughly document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with relevant employees on maintenance issues (co-workers, operators, supervisors, etc.) and make proper use of the inventory system;
  • Support process improvement in assigned areas through observation and analysis of equipment maintenance history;
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the preventive maintenance program;
  • Analyze failures and suggest action plans;
  • Use mechanical tools such as: Welding equipment, measuring equipment, drill presses, press and saws;
  • Ensure effective communication with colleagues on and off shifts;
  • Adopt safe behaviors by integrating health and safety into your daily tasks by respecting Elopak US rules and procedures.
  • Participate in the process of preventing work incidents by ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others.
